Privacy Policy for the “Daytape” app#

This privacy policy applies to the “Daytape” app for iPhone (App Store, bundle ID de.pakumedia.daytape). A separate policy applies to our website at https://pakumedia.de/datenschutz.

2. Overview#
Daytape is a private video diary. You record short moments and the app plays them back as the film of your day.
- There is no account and no sign-in.
- Your recordings stay on your device. We do not run a server that videos are uploaded to.
- The app contains no ads, no analytics or tracking tool and no third-party crash reporting.
- The app uses no advertising identifier (IDFA) and does no tracking in the sense of Apple’s App Tracking Transparency.
- The app sends no push notifications.
- We do not sell personal data.
Personal data leaves your device in two cases only: when you buy Daytape Pro (Apple and our subscription service provider), and when you write to us yourself.
3. Your recordings#
Videos, thumbnails, the profile picture, your name inside the app and everything about your days are stored only locally, in the app’s protected area on your device.
- Legal basis: the processing happens on your device alone; we have no access to it.
- Retention: as long as you want. You can delete single recordings or whole days inside the app. Deleting the app deletes all recordings with it.
- No backup by us: the folder holding your recordings is excluded from the iCloud backup so your backup does not grow by gigabytes of video. Export the films you want to keep.
- Export: when you export a film, the app saves it to your Photos library. From then on your Photos and iCloud settings apply.
4. Permissions#

You can withdraw any permission in the iOS settings. Without camera and microphone access, recording is not possible.
5. Buying Daytape Pro#
Purchases run through the App Store. Apple processes the payment data; we receive neither payment data nor contact details from Apple.
To verify and manage your entitlement we use RevenueCat, Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #1595, Walnut, CA 91789, USA. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous identifier for your device, the receipt from Apple, and technical details such as country, app version and device type. RevenueCat cannot derive your name from this; we send no email address and no account data, because the app has no account.
- Purpose: checking whether a valid Pro entitlement exists and restoring purchases on a new device.
- Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the Daytape Pro contract).
- Transfer to a third country: processing also takes place in the USA, based on the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses in our data processing agreement with RevenueCat.
- Retention: for as long as the subscription or purchase exists, afterwards within RevenueCat’s statutory retention periods.

Without a purchase, nothing is transmitted to RevenueCat beyond the anonymous identifier and the entitlement check.
6. Contacting us by email#
If you write to us, we process your email address and the content of your message in order to reply (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in answering). We delete the message once it is no longer needed, at the latest after three years.
7. Your rights#
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Because the app keeps no account and your recordings live only on your device, these rights mainly concern purchase data and email correspondence. Contact hello@pakumedia.de.
You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
8. Children#
Daytape is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes#
We update this policy when the app changes. The current version is always at https://pakumedia.de/pakustudios/daytape/privacy.
